401(k) Plan Investment Choices

Balanced (moderately conservative):
George Putnam Fund of Boston B seeks high current return and relative stability of principal. The fund invests in dividend-paying common stocks, convertible securities, corporate debt, and U. S. government securities. It may invest up to 20% of assets in foreign securities; this limit does not apply to Eurodollar certificates of deposit.

Large Cap (moderately aggressive):
Putnam Investors B seeks long-term capital appreciation; growth of income is secondary. The fund invests primarily in common stocks. It may also invest in preferred stocks, convertible bonds, and debt securities. When selecting investments, management considers such factors as probable future earnings, dividends, financial strength, working assets, and competitive position. The fund may invest up to 20% of assets in securities of foreign issuers.

Small Cap (moderately aggressive):
Putnam Capital Opportunities B seeks capital growth. The fund primarily invests in equity securities of smaller companies with market capitalizations of less that $2 billion. It may also invest in convertibles, warrants, preferred stocks, debt obligations, and money market instruments. The fund may invest in foreign securities, futures and options.

Putnam New Opportunities B seeks long-term capital appreciation. The fund normally invests in common stocks in these sectors: communications, environmental services, media/entertainment, medical technology/medical cost containment, advanced technology, restaurants and retail, and personal finance. It may hold up to 20% in foreign securities.

International (aggressive):
Putnam International Growth B seeks capital appreciation. The fund normally invests at least 65% of assets in equity securities of companies located outside of the United States . It may invest in companies of any size that it judges to be in a strong growth trend or that it believes to be undervalued. The fund may invest in both developed and emerging markets. It may engage in various hedging strategies.
